Theta is a decentralized media network, made possible by users and an innovative new blockchain. Theta is an open-source protocol that is specially built for decentralized apps ( DApps ) that can be built on the platform.
Theta was founded by Mitch Liu and Jieyi Long. Both are experienced entrepreneurs with a lot of experience within the entertainment studio. The project was officially launched in the second quarter of 2017. Theta is currently still an ERC-20 token on the Ethereumblockchain, but in 2019 the switch to its own blockchain will be realized.
Theta wants to solve all current problems concerning video streaming, such as high costs and low-quality videos. They will do so by introducing decentralized video streaming over blockchain technology. This results in a smoother and high-quality streaming experience.
These are currently still ERC-20 tok ens, but in 2019, with the launch of their own blockchain, their own cryptocurrency will also be created.
