About Horizen

Horizen was founded by Rob Viglione and Rolf Versluis, initially under the name ZenCash. The project's aim is to empower people with control over their data and finances while still benefiting from the advantages of a decentralized network. The network employs the Zendoo protocol to enable interoperability between blockchains. Thanks to SNARK verification, there is flexibility in sidechain types, speed, privacy, and consensus mechanisms. This allows developers to implement various types of sidechains with different features and build decentralized applications (dApps). It enables them to integrate their projects with Horizen's privacy features. Horizen utilizes a Secure Node system, similar to masternodes in other cryptocurrencies. Secure Nodes support the network and enhance its security, in return for which node operators earn rewards. With a large number of nodes, there is a high level of security. The ZEN token is the native cryptocurrency of Horizen, used for transaction fees, node rewards, and as a means of exchange within the Horizen ecosystem.
