About IDEX

IDEX was founded in 2017 by the Wearn brothers, Alex and Phil. IDEX employs a unique approach by combining an order book model with an automated market maker. To execute trades, IDEX utilizes an off-chain trading mechanism that matches the performance of centralized exchanges and guarantees sequencing. Trades are processed in an off-chain order book. Only when a transaction matches and is executed, it is settled on-chain. Users, therefore, do not have to pay additional network costs for orders. Orders are processed in real-time, enabling more advanced trading and market-making strategies such as stop-loss, post-only, and fill-or-kill. Virtual limit orders are displayed in the order book alongside real limit orders to visualize AMM liquidity in the order book model and ensure liquidity. Orders are usually processed either as AMM only or as a hybrid between AMM and limit order liquidity.
