Yesterday was a remarkable day for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). Not only did their prices turn green on the market, but their U.S.-listed ETFs also saw massive inflows. Investors collectively put in more than
$1 billion, an amount not reached in quite some time.
A Rare Peak in ETF Inflows
Bitcoin-tracking ETFs raised 518 million dollars, while Ethereum ETFs attracted 546.9 million dollars. Together, this amounts to a net inflow of 1.0649 billion dollars, or over 907 million euros. It was the most successful trading day since August 11, when Ethereum ETFs recorded a record inflow of 1.0188 billion dollars.
For both Bitcoin and Ethereum investors, this feels particularly good, as the ETFs had been slightly declining in recent weeks. For Ethereum, the recent dip was especially significant: last week, the funds experienced their worst week since launch with an outflow of 795.8 million dollars.
Since their launch last year, Ethereum ETFs have raised nearly 13.7 billion dollars, while Bitcoin ETFs have already gathered more than 57 billion dollars. BlackRock manages the largest funds for both cryptocurrencies, setting multiple records along the way.
Ethereum Lags in Bitcoin‘s Shadow
Although Ethereum ETFs had outperformed Bitcoin ETFs for an extended period, the recent trend seems to be shifting. Ethereum‘s price itself has also been slightly trailing Bitcoin for some time. On August 23, Ethereum reached a peak relative to Bitcoin, after which the ratio gradually declined: where you previously got 0.043 BTC per 1 ETH, it is now 0.0367 BTC. While this could decrease further, the broader trend still indicates long-term growth for both coins.
Yesterday was therefore more than just a green day on the market. It shows that investors, despite recent ups and downs, still have confidence in the growth of these digital assets. This ETF momentum may also serve as an important indicator of sentiment around Bitcoin and Ethereum.
