The Sandbox is a virtual game that is built on the Ethereum blockchain, which means users, from players to creators, need tokens to perform different actions, such as selling and buying “land” where they can actually make their own game, as well play in other people’s games. About The Sandbox

The Sandbox was initially designed as a sandbox game, which means the game structure is not rigid or even doesn’t exist since it’s the players who have free rein over what happens. It was launched by Animoca Brands and Pixowl on May 15, 2012, and was available in Microsoft Windows and mobile devices. It became available on Steam three years after. The game involved over 20 campaigns and more than 300 levels plus an online gallery where users can share the worlds they had created. By 2018, Animoca Brands bought the game to create a Blockchain-based voxel game without exactly removing one of its core elements, which is being the sandbox. Instead, it expanded it by letting players build their own game. Currently, the possible number of Sand tokens is 3 billion, of which 23 percent is circulating.
