About yearn.finance

The yearn.finance project was founded by André Cronje, first under the name iEarn. In February 2020, it went live under the new name yearn.finance. Cronje has a long career in cryptocurrency and specializes in DeFi. There are also other specialists on the team, known by the pseudonyms Banteg, Milkyklim and Tracheopteryx. Yearn.Finance makes its own profit through transaction fees of 0.5% and 5% gas fees. It operates with the YFI token, which can be earned by offering it as liquidity, after which you can earn additional tokens. These are also used as governance tokens. The YFI token became so popular after its launch that its value peaked at $41,000 in September 2020. It is the first crypto currency to have achieved a higher value than Bitcoin.
