Ark is a blockchain project or platform that allows any of its users to build his own interoperable and customizable blockchain. Each developer has the capability of creating transactions, logic, and programming languages, which means there is not much need for smart contracts.
MoreArk uses its major ecosystem features in achieving the goal of building more accessible blockchains, and these are alternative programming languages, SmartBridges, and push button deployable blockchains. The network has more or less 18 programming languages, and additionally, SmartBridges uses the system’s core platform to connect separate blockchains while push button deployable blockchains are used for building users’ projects and forking Ark.

It was in February 2017 when a group of 27 individuals from different parts of the world created the Ark blockchain. One of the platform’s main founders, Francois-Xavier Thoorens worked at Lisk as a core developer prior to creating the platform. He is also known for founding Donatio.fr, a donations platform. Thoorens is currently Ark’s president and is supported by founding members Rok Cernec (vice president) and Kristjan Kosic, the platform’s chief technology officer. Ark is conceptualized and patterned after Bitshares, Crypti, and Lisk, which all use the consensus algorithm known as dPos or decentralized Proof of Stake. One advantage of the Ark network is its feature that allows users to develop their own blockchains using a variety of coding languages. The platform provides SDKs or software development kits for several languages, including NET, Java, C++, Go, Elixir, JavaScript, PHP, Ruby, Python, Laravel, Rust, RPC, Wolfram, Swift, and Symfony. Ark’s initial coin offering took place in 2016.
