Cardano launches brand new update
Cardano (ADA) developers launched a new upgrade on Monday, June 19. This new upgrade should reduce transitions between different epochs to make the layer-1 blockchain smoother for users of the network.
Epochs are literally the different time periods on Cardano's blockchain. A time period, or epoch, is handled by the network for validating new transaction blocks.
Called "Cardano Node 8.1.1," this new Cardano upgrade changes the way epoch calculations are made in a way that speeds up network processes during the change in epochs. The upgrade also includes solutions to poblems with peer-to-peer network communications and the Cardano-based domain name system.
Nike enters partnership with Fortnite
Nike announced a few days ago that the company has joined hands with the popular video game Fortnite. This involves .Swoosh, Nike's
Web3 platform.
The collaboration was announced through a sneaker hunt called "Airphoria". This sneaker hunt took place on June 20.
Airphoria is a new Air Max-related virtual world. Airphoria is available on Fortnite through June 27. All Fortnite players who are active on Airphoria for 10 minutes or more will receive the Air Max 1 '86 Black Bling digital sneaker within the game.
Players who link their Epic Games and Nike accounts while Airphoria is available. This will allow players to claim an "Account Linking Achievement" on .Swoosh. However, this has no monetary value, so it cannot be traded. Owners can, however, be the first to gain access to future .SWOOSH virtual Air Max collections.
