NEAR is a public PoS (Proof-of-Stake), smart-contract-capable decentralized app platform that highlights user and developer-friendliness. In some ways, it is similar to public community-run cloud platforms, which are cost-effective but highly scalable and developers can build easily and more conveniently.
MoreNEAR can qualify as a foundation or layer on which other apps are created and deployed, which is what a base-layer blockchain is, and it uses the Nightshade technology in providing immense throughput powers. To increase efficiency, NEAR uses the Doomslug consensus mechanism; while sharding is utilized to achieve improvements in the blockchain’s capacity to carry transactions.
