Altlayer (ALT)

The Altlayer project was established because the founders believe in a world where rollups with a specific purpose can be used together with rollups for a general purpose. Altlayer creates a universal and neutral protocol in which all these rollups can meet various essential needs, through Restaked rollups. Restaked rollups are essentially a set of three vertically integrated Actively Validated Services (AVSs) created on demand for a specific rollup and work with any underlying rollup stack. These AVSs collectively provide three essential services to rollups, specifically to app-specific rollups, namely VITAL, MACH, and SQUAD, which respectively ensure verification, fast processing, and decentralized sequencing. With restaked rollups, AltLayer adds additional layers of protection so that all rollups can communicate effectively, ensuring more security and speed. Altlayer has also developed RaaS, Rollups-as-a-Service, allowing developers to set up a complete rollup in two minutes. The RaaS product is designed for multi-chain worlds and virtual machines, and will therefore support EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) and WASM (WebAssembly). It also supports various rollup SDKs such as OP Stack, Arbitrum Orbit, Polygon zkEVM, ZKSync's ZKStack, and Starkware. Altlayer has entered into collaborations and partnerships with Celestia, Avail, and Injective, among others. These are rollup stack partners or projects that provide data, creating various modular services at different levels of the rollup stack. ALT is the native utility token on Altlayer and serves various functions. In addition to governance and the ability for users to vote within the protocol, there is also the economic link, where the ALT token, along with re-staked assets, is used to provide economic stake. Users are also rewarded in ALT for their network contributions, and transaction fees are paid with it.
